Chad’s Bio
Chad Currin has performed his comedy and magic shows for some of the largest companies in world and even command performances for the Royal Family of King Fahd of Saudia Arabia.
Like many magicians, Chad picked it up as a kid and never really shook the “magic bug.” I was doing terribly with my clarinet lessons and my mom asked if I might like to try something different. I said, “YES! Magic!” and my career path was born.
Upon graduation – and the daunting task of telling my parents what I was going to do for a living – I set out to be the next Doug Henning or David Copperfield. Between summer gigs at amusement parks, I spent my year writing educational magic shows for elementary and middle schools. Soon after the French nearly drove the amusement park I was working at into the ground, (it was already built in a mine) I started doing more and more educational shows for schools and libraries. I found magic was a very powerful tool for teaching.
Looking for larger and larger challenges (ok..someone called and asked if I would do it…) I was given the opportunity to take what I did in schools and apply it to the workforce. I was in charge of “motivating” pharmaceutical reps at a regional meeting they were having.
After lots of late nights writing and reheasing, the big night came. I hate to toot my own horn (not usually, but in print sounds worse) but the presentation was a great success. That gig turned in many more. New York Conference of Mayors, Blacks in Government Conference, Several Competing Pharaceutical Reps (not at the same time), divisions of State Government and Corporate Retreats. I have given Keynotes, Breakout Sessions and entertained after dinner!
Shows are custom tailored to meet the specific combination of fun and education set by the client. Sometimes I am performing after dinner and they want an upbeat message, but mostly just a fun show. Other times clients want heavy on the motivation and care less that the show is funny and engaging. There have only been two performances where everyone was not thrilled from beginning to end. Once Jesse Jackson started a presentation when I was wrapping up and once I was actually expected to go on vs. the last 3 innings of a close World Series Game 7. My shows are guaranteed – but I can’t compete with Game 7 of the World Series in a room full of salesmen.
